Several players of the First Team went to the Vessy Sports Center on Wednesday, August 31 to meet the residents of the Foyer Handicap. The objective of this day was to share actions in favor of the environment, sports and the inclusion of people with disabilities.
In the morning, the players and residents worked on a waste collection along the Arve and the Vessy Park. For the refuse collection, the players and residents were equipped with adequate material, lent by our major partner, Helvetia Environnement. This initiative is part of Servette Rugby's commitment and its Pacte Grenat, whose objective is to raise awareness among fans, players and all stakeholders to sort and recycle waste.
The afternoon was dedicated to an introduction to rugby. Touching, scrumming, tackling, everyone was able to play the game! During this sports session, players and residents were able to share a friendly experience in order to transform everyone's view of sports and disability.
Using wheelchairs, the rugby players were also able to put themselves in a situation of reduced mobility. A playful way to transform one's preconceptions.
This meeting was a real source of energy and awareness for all of us.
A big thank you to Foyer Handicap for this day of solidarity and commitment.
